Bantwal, October 3: As many as 86 houses and farmlands were damaged due to strong winds and rains in some villages in Bantwal Taluk on Saturday evening October 2.
Bantwal tahsildar Rashmi SR on Sunday visited the places where damage to houses and farmland was reported.
No less than 77 houses were partially damaged while 9 houses were completely damaged. In Badaga and Tenku Kajekaru, 65 houses were partially damaged and 8 houses seriously damaged. In Uli, one house was badly damaged and 7 seven houses were partially damaged.
In Kavalamooduru village, five houses were damaged, Revenue Inspector Kumar T C informed. Several sugar beets and coconut trees, banana trees and rubber trees were uprooted due to heavy rains and wind.
Damage was also reported on agricultural lands in Nelligudde, Agarthyaru, Mucchirodi. In Uli village, damage was reported to the houses of Lalitha, Ameena, Safiya, Shekar Poojary, Rukmini and Shivaram Devadiga. A house belonging to Nalini was damaged by lightning in the village of Narikombu. Nearly 200 rubber trees were damaged on Ravi Salian’s land in Badagakajekaru.
