Beginning of the series of talks on development in the agricultural sector

LAHORE: The first session of the Development Talks series on the agricultural sector was held on Thursday under the leadership of P&D Council Chairman Abdullah Khan Sumbal of the Planning and Development Council.

The objective of the talks was to include inputs from agriculture and private actors in the ADP 2022-23 formulation to support the agricultural sector. Senior farmers, progressive farmers, representatives of national agricultural institutes from across Punjab and government officials attended the session. Agents from the various departments concerned joined the session. From institutional framework to workforce, infrastructure development and regulatory issues were discussed during the session. The main objective of the series of lectures was to bridge the gap between the public and private sectors and to include feedback before preparing and finalizing the ADP 2022-23. The chairman of the P&D Council said the agricultural industry is the engine of the national economy. The government believes in inclusive budgeting where stakeholders who would be directly affected by decisions and allocations are brought before formulating development plans, policies and budgets.

Visit of a Danish team to Wasa: The Danish International Development Agency has offered the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) technical and financial assistance for its ongoing projects. In this regard, a Danish delegation visited Wasa’s head office and held a meeting with Wasa’s managing director, Muhammad Tanveer, on Thursday.
