DODA: A sensitization camp for women’s food security groups was organized today by the Department of Agriculture and Doda Farmers Welfare here in Misrata village of Bhalra Tehsil Bhaderwah area today .
The program was organized under SMAE (ATMA) and brought together 25 women farmers from Misrata and surrounding areas.
Agriculture Sub Divisional Pranoo Kuldeep Raj Bhasan spoke about the various programs being implemented in the region.
Zareena, Assistant Soil Chemist, spoke about the importance of soil testing and advised farmers to start cultivation only after testing the soil in their fields. Beekeeping Officer Rajeshwar Singh talked about beekeeping and advised women farmers to go into business to increase their income.
Regional Marketing Manager Doda Sunil Singh talked about the programs run by their department.
Progressive farmer Abdul Gaffar also spoke on this occasion and gave an in-depth lecture on the cultivation of lavender and other medicinal plants.
The District Agriculture Officer, Haroon Hussain, spoke at length about the various programs that have been put in place for the benefit of the farming community. He advised farmers to start growing mushrooms as it can help them double their farming income.
Sarpanch Misrata introduced the vote of thanks and advised farmers to take advantage of the different schemes.
Later, agricultural tools and growth regulators were also distributed to the women farmers present on the occasion.
Incharge AEO Ajay Kotwal led the program flow. JAEO Arif Sajjad, Rita Kotwal and other staff were also present on the occasion.
