Chandīgarh: The government of Punjab has declared a war to stop the stubble burning and has decided to make every effort to save the water, soil and environment from the pollution caused by the stubble burning. Punjab Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal today held a meeting with district agriculture officials to discuss the implementation of a plan to stop stubble burning.

Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal today urged all officers and staff to work virtually at ground level instead of just filling out paperwork. The Agriculture Minister today instructed senior officials that no officers or employees of the Department of Agriculture should be allowed to leave before November 7.

The Minister of Agriculture also ordered to set up a state-level control room to monitor all field activities regarding stubble burning awareness campaign and prompt notification of stubble burning cases. . The minister asked Sarvjit Singh, the additional chief secretary of the agriculture department, to be in constant contact with the civil and police administration of the district regarding the stubble burning issues.

Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal further said that he will hold a meeting with Cabinet Ministers and Vice Chancellors of all universities in the state on Monday to raise awareness about the negative effects of stubble burning in the NSS. Volunteer services can be taken.

Finally, the Minister of Agriculture said that the Punjab government will provide happy seeders to agriculture officers at the block level which can be used by smallholder farmers free of charge. He said about 2-5 machines have already been supplied at the block level and they are trying to supply about 10 Happy Seeder machines to agriculture officials for use by farmers.
