The AIP award opens a new chapter in the agricultural sector

Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzaque said on Wednesday that a new chapter has been added to the country’s agricultural arena with the distribution of the Agricultural Important Person (AIP) awards.

“Farmers, agronomists, entrepreneurs, producers and others associated with agriculture are the architects of the success of the country’s agricultural sector. The introduction of the AIP award will further enhance their honor and status within the profession,” he said.

Dr Razzaque was addressing the awards ceremony as chief guest at the capital’s Osmani Memorial Auditorium, a press release said.

“This award will play an important role in attracting educated, talented and creative young people to this profession in the future, as our goal is to promote agriculture as a commercial and respectable profession,” the Minister added.

Deputy Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change Habibun Nahar spoke as a special guest at the IPA Awards Ceremony, chaired by the Secretary of Agriculture , Md Saidul Islam, the statement added.

The government formulated the AIP policy in 2019 to award the Agriculturally Important Person (AIP) award annually to honor and encourage those involved in agriculture who are one of the key players the success of agriculture in the country.

A total of 13 people were honored with the Agriculturally Important Person (AIP)-2020 award on Wednesday.

Among them, two have earlier received the prestigious gold medals of “Bangabandhu National Agriculture Award”.

It was stated at the ceremony that AIP winners will enjoy the same facilities and honors as CIP (Commercially Important Person) winners.
