SRINAGAR: Kashmir Director of Agriculture, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today inaugurated a one-day agripreneurship initiation workshop on Entrepreneurship Development in Jammu and Kashmir.

Department of Agriculture in conjunction with National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, organized the workshop in the hall conference center at Lalmandi Agricultural Complex, Srinagar.

The director, in his inaugural speech at the occasion, highlighted the importance of the culture of entrepreneurship within the farming community.

Marking various opportunities in the sector, he said the various agro-climatic conditions in the region provide a wide range of opportunities for entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector. We can produce different vegetables and agricultural crops at times when the rest of the country is unable to produce fresh vegetables and this allows us to explore marketing channels and obtain good returns for our products, a he added.

The director said the entrepreneurs in Jammu and Kashmir have a wide reach in agri-tourism and other allied wings. He called on educated young people to come forward and embrace agribusiness because in our region it is in its infancy and there is vast potential in the sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Poonam Sinha, Director of EE, NIESBUD informed the entrepreneurs about the various programs of the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development and the various opportunities in the business sector. entrepreneurship. She expressed her views on the scope of entrepreneurship in Jammu and Kashmir, support and mentoring of entrepreneurs, value addition, marketing of products nationally and internationally.

She called on participating entrepreneurs to become job providers rather than job seekers, adding that promoting the culture of entrepreneurship within the farming community could make a big difference and contribute to the overall development of the industry. ‘economy.

Guest speakers on the occasion, including DK Singh, NIESBUD Chief Consultant, gave a detailed lecture on agripreneurship and agripreneur opportunities, government programs and the agripreneur support ecosystem.

Earlier, the Deputy Director of Agricultural Marketing, Mohammad Qasim Gani gave a detailed report on the various initiatives taken by the agricultural marketing wing of the department for the promotion of entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector and the marketing of different vegetables and other agricultural crops at national and international level. .

Several entrepreneurs participated in the session and formulated their questions regarding various sectors, recent innovations and support for entrepreneurs.
