Analyst urges new government to take action to boost agricultural sector as people across the country hold hope with leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif
Salman Ghani (senior journalist) Pakistan is an agricultural country and has never experienced a crisis in this sector before. The new government must take certain measures to boost the sector because the people of the country have hopes with the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. At the time, the country was faced with the problem of urea availability, but the government in place reiterated its commitment not to tolerate an unjustified increase in the price of urea. It is absolutely necessary to ensure proper monitoring and follow-up system to overcome the shortages of essential soil nutrients in the country. The provincial government must work with the federal government to overcome the problems in the agricultural sector and stimulate the industry. The smuggling of various foodstuffs including wheat and wheat products into Afghanistan would be a challenge for the current government. It is the responsibility of customs officers on the ground, border enforcement, police and government officials to control the smuggling of wheat into Afghanistan.
Mushtaq Ahmed Mehar (former ambassador) It is a positive statement by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken that the US supports the democratic system in Pakistan and has never supported any particular political party. During my tenure in the Observed Foreign Service, the United States supported the government of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and also supported General Zia-ul-Haq’s tenure as President of Pakistan. As a democratic country, we should be rational because the United States supports the peaceful upholding of constitutional and democratic principles in Pakistan. The United States has always claimed to support the larger principles, the principles of the rule of law, of equality before the law in our country. Pakistan is a sovereign country and all other countries must respect our interests. Pakistan wants good bilateral relations not only with the United States but with all countries in the region and around the world. The United States also realizes that Pakistan is a frontline ally of the United States in the war on terrorism and also recognizes the crucial role played by the withdrawal of Pakistan and the United States from Afghanistan.
