DODA: An awareness program to promote mushroom cultivation among women farmers was organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare under the Mushroom Development Program here in Bhaderwah to mark the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav”. Block Development Council President Bhaderwah Omi Chand chaired the program.
The event was held under the supervision of Director of Agriculture, Anil Gupta, and Head of Mushroom Development, Haroon Butt.
Kaiser Masood I/C Mushroom Development Manager, Bhaderwah, informed the attendees that the department will help them by imparting skills and training to learn how to undertake a mushroom farming business. He said mushroom farming is an income-generating activity with the potential to fulfill the Prime Minister’s dream of doubling farm incomes by 2022.
BDC Chairman also spoke on this occasion and appreciated the agriculture department for reaching 100% in PMKSY and opening new mushroom units with a capacity of about 2500 bags in the region. He also thanked all agricultural extension assistants for carrying out massive extension work during the last season in all Panchayats.
Sarpanch from Udrana Panchayat and other PRI members were also present at the sensitization program.
