Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mohibullah Khan, said on Friday that agriculture was the backbone of the country’s economy and there was a dire need to pay attention to this sector.
PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News – May 13, 2022): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Minister Mohibullah Khan said Friday that agriculture is the backbone of the economy of the country and that it was absolutely necessary to pay attention to this sector.
Addressing a farmers’ convention here, he said: “About 70% of the country’s population depends on agriculture and livestock, but unfortunately no government has given importance to this sector. . He for the first time in the history of the country the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa introduced a food security policy while realizing the importance of this sector, adding that the government increased the agricultural budget from Rs 2 billion to several billion.
Similarly, 11 projects worth Rs 45 billion have been approved by the Federal Government of PTI while 25,000 waterways have been constructed in KP over the past five years.
He added that as part of the food security policy, the government has launched several projects while imposing an emergency in the agriculture and livestock sector. Plans were launched to protect animals from disease and veterinary clinics were set up to provide free vaccines to pets.
Speaking on the occasion, former Federal Communications Minister Murad Saeed said: “There are many opportunities for development in agriculture. The PTI government under the leadership of Imran Khan has taken practical steps to increase wheat production and in 2020 the country produced record harvests. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cattle Breeders Welfare Association Asif Awan, Sardar Fahad Qayyum, Ruqia Bibi, Shama, Fazal Rabi, Mohammad Khan of Sindh appreciated the measures taken by the provincial government.
