BHOPAL (Madhya Pradesh): The Ministry of Agriculture is urging farmers to increase the acreage of legume crops like moong, urad, tur, etc. instead of traditional soybean crops in Madhya Pradesh. Farmers are also motivated for natural farming, agriculture department officials said.

Deputy Director of Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development, BL Billaiya, informed that considering the possible area of different crops, inputs are being organized by setting targets. A plan has been developed to provide training in natural farming.

In the first phase, 199 farmers from Bhopal district registered on Pratikriti Krishi Portal (natural farming). The sowing time of the Kharif crops is near. For sowing crops of the Kharif 2022 year, there is a sufficient amount of chemical fertilizers, urea, DAP in stock.

Apart from DAP, urea, farmers also need to use fertilizers containing potash and sulfur in their fields to get good crop yield. In addition, before sowing crops, seed treatment should be done, to maintain the fertilizing power of the land, also use organic fertilizers.

There is sufficient fertilizer availability in the district for the farmers to use the fertilizers in Kharif’s crops based on the demand, officials added.
