(MENAFN) On Sunday, IRNA reported on the basis of an announcement by an Iranian Ministry of Agriculture official that Iran and Iraq aim to develop mutual ties in several agricultural sectors.
The Director General of Specialized Organizations and International Affairs of the Ministry of Agriculture, Alimorad Sarafrazi, expressed in a conversation with Naseer Abdul Mohsen Abdullah, Iraqi Ambassador to Tehran at a conference, the close ties between the two nations and underlined the need to organize several working groups in the agricultural sector.
He then mentioned some difficulties and obstacles that hamper the trade relations between the two countries and said that the advancement and creation of plant quarantine procedures, the control of the health of livestock at the common borders of the two countries, the training of ‘a technical unit at the separate border crossings between the two nations as well as the improvement of the infrastructure for the transfer of goods between Iraq and Iran seem to be crucial in this area.
