KATHUA, July 22: In view of agricultural mechanization in the agriculture sector, Kathua Agricultural Production and Farmer Welfare Department today introduced the first drone spraying technology in Kathua District.
On occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rahul Pandey, Director of Agriculture, Kathua, Sanjeev Rai and DAO, Raju Mahajan, SDAO Murari Lal and number of farmers were present. The pilot project was introduced in Kissanpur Kandi village in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district to control Fahmi diseases as leaf blight spread in maize crops. The drone was used to spray affected maize crops and also used to spray Nano Urea on paddy crops.
The test was a success and the drone completed the job in minutes, which takes hours if done manually. Farmers are very pleased with the new mechanization of drone technology introduced in Kathua district.
Kathua Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandey said this technology is being used in some states in the agricultural sector and now it is being piloted, it is also being introduced in Kathua district by the Department of Agriculture to help farmers in mountainous areas.
Director of Agriculture, Kathua, Sanjeev Rai, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi dreams of doubling farmers’ incomes and drone technology will help them reduce production costs to help the farmer. It is also useful in hilly areas and avoids the hectic approach of man and machinery on hilly terrain. He said that the farmer must profit from it.
